1. How would you describe your job in a few words to a stranger?
I work at Act Together Crisis Shelter with youth ages 11 to 17.
2. What’s your typical day at work like?
A typical day for me is spent interacting with the children, whether through playing card games, begging them to watch my favorite Disney movies, or having a regular conversation with them. Aside from that, I get to be a listening ear whenever the youth are having a tough time.
3. What is your favorite thing about working with Youth Focus?
The dedication to serving the youth as well as the opportunities to continue to learn and grow.
4. What is one thing you wish more people knew about Youth Focus?
How dedicated Youth Focus is to these children.
5. What’s the best advice you were ever given? Who was it from?
The best advice I was ever given came from a good friend of mine who said to be authentic.
6. What advice would you give to your teenage self?
Don’t stress so much about the future to the point where you’re not enjoying simply being a teenager.
7. What’s the biggest misconception people have about teens and young adults today?
I think the biggest misconception about the youth I work with is that they aren’t good kids.
